Sheltered Housing for older women

Women’s Pioneer Housing is London’s largest specialist housing association for women. We have 178 flats in sheltered housing complexes for women over 60 who wish to live independently in their own home but with added security and back-up support, on call. Each flat is self-contained and the immediate neighbours are also women of older ages. Many schemes have discount services from a laundry to guest rooms for visiting friends and relatives.

Features

Women’s Pioneer Housing is a non profit making charity set up in 1920, which today owns rented and leased homes across west and central London. Our sheltered housing is situated at the heart of active central London communities, close to transport links. All five of our schemes have easy access to gated gardens, and one has its own. We take pride in maintaining our buildings to a high standard. All flats have central heating, which is included in the service charge, and each scheme has a communal lounge, which residents are welcome to use. Many also host activities which residents are welcome to join in with, if they wish to.

Applying for a studio flat

We will accept applications for our sheltered housing studio flats for single women aged over 60. We do not require applicants to live in the borough but give preference to those wishing to move closer to a relative.

We will consider applications from owner-occupiers but will need an up-to-date valuation of the present home. Applications from anyone with assets worth more than £300,000 may have to be referred to our Board before a decision is made.

Rents for the flats vary from £460 to £680 each month (Jan 2010), depending on location, floor etc. This figure includes the service charge.
